David Willer

Mr. Willer holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Montclair State University and a Master Of Arts Degree in Supervision and Administration from The New Jersey City State University. He has a N.J. Teaching Certificate in Music, Instrumental/Vocal, grades k-12 as well as a N.J. Certification in Educational Supervision/Administration ( principal/superintendent ).He began his teaching career in 1980 at Lounsberry Hollow Middle School in the Vernon Township School District. Since that time he has taught General Music and Chorus in grades 5-8. He has served as the Assistant Marching Band Director and interim Band Director at Vernon Township High School.

In 1983 Mr. Willer initiated the V.T.H.S. Jazz Express and continues to direct that group to the present. In addition to hosting the annual Jazz at the Flats jazz festival every June in Vernon, The Jazz Express has also performed at City Walk in Orlando, Florida, Universal Studios Orlando, Florida, Magic Mountain, Valencia, California, and The House of Blues in Anaheim, California. Mr. Willer is also presently the Director of Bands at Glen Meadow Middle School in Vernon. His duties include directing the Concert Band, 8th Grade Wind Ensemble, and the Jazz Ensemble as well as giving lessons in instrumental music. He performs as a freelance drummer/percussionist extensively throughout the tri-state area and along the east coast. He has given presentations on teaching percussion techniques at the New Jersey Education Association Convention in Atlantic City, N.J. and at the Music Educators National Conference All Eastern Convention in Boston, Massachusetts.
