Mr. Taylor has been a music
teacher at Vernon Township High School for ten years and has been the
Director of Bands for the last six of these years. He is the
conductor of several VTHS instrumental ensembles including
Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Viking Marching Band, Flute Choir, Clarinet
Choir, Saxophone Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Brass Choir and the Pit Orchestra for the Spring Musical.
During Mr. Taylor's first four years at Vernon Twp. High School he was the choral director
in charge of
Concert Choir Mixed, Concert Choir Women, Symphonic
Choir, Chanticleer, Les Chanteuses, and Close Harmony. His
undergraduate work includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education completed at West Chester
University of Pennsylvania and an additional Bachelors of Arts degree
in Communications from Seton Hall University. His graduate work
was completed at Ramapo College of NJ where he obtained a Master of Science
degree in Educational Technology. He completed additional graduate
work at William Patterson University of NJ where he obtained his At Vernon Township High School, Mr. Taylor enjoys working with the Instrumental Department. He has been the Musical Director for five of the VTHS Spring Musicals in which the past eight years he also conducted the Pit Orchestra for Jekyll and Hyde, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, The Boyfriend, Sugar, Suessical, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying and this year's spring musical, The Sound of Music! Several of Mr. Taylor's accomplishments include, Managing the 2003 Region I Women's Choir, Touring with the Ridgewood Concert Band in it's 2003 Tour to the South of France, Arranging a VTHS Choir tour to Florida in 2002 where the choir performed in Disney's Candlelight Processional, Arranging a VTHS European Choir tour to London and Paris in April of 2005 in which he conducted the VTHS Choir in Sacred Heart Basilica, Newark; Southwark Cathedral, London and the Cathedral de Notre Dame, Paris, Conducting a VTHS Band Tour to Ohio in 2006 where the VTHS Viking Marching Band participated in a parade along Cedar Point's Midway and the VTHS Band received a Superior rating at Music in the Parks concert festival, Arranging and Conducting the VTHS instrumental ensembles on tour to Florida in 2008 where the VTHS Marching Band participated in the SpectroMagic Parade and the VTHS Symphonic Band performed a Concert in the Magic Kingdom, Arranging and Conducting the VTHS instrumental ensembles in 2010 on Tour to Chicago and Cleveland where the Marching Band again participated in the Cedar Point Midway Parade and the VTHS Symphonic Band played in a combined concert with Kittatinny High School Concert Band at the Cleveland Science Center. Mr. Taylor is also the current president of the SCMEA (Sussex County Music Education Association). |
